On April 1, 2025, the II BFA Filmmaking students of L.V. Prasad College of Media Studies embarked on an exciting industrial visit to Radio Mirchi FM, Chennai. The visit, coordinated by Dr. R. Preetha, Head of the Department, and Mr. Arunmozhi, Assistant Professor, offered a unique opportunity for 28 students to gain firsthand exposure to the dynamic world of radio broadcasting.
Students were warmly welcomed by Production Head Sharanya, who set the tone for the day with an overview of the channel’s operations across Tamil Nadu. They were then guided by RJ Joe, Preethy, and Jithan, who shared valuable insights into the functioning of Radio Mirchi and the skills required to excel in the industry.
The group was divided into two batches and taken through various departments of the station. In the Programming and Content Creation unit, students learned how radio shows are ideated, scripted, and produced. At the Recording and Editing Studio, they witnessed live demonstrations of sound recording, mixing, and editing. The highlight of the visit was the Live Broadcasting Room, where students observed real-time RJ-ing, audience engagement, and the technical precision behind live shows.
The visit successfully bridged the gap between classroom theory and real-world practice. Students gained a deeper understanding of audio storytelling, RJ presentation, content creation, and marketing analytics, leaving them inspired to explore career opportunities in the vibrant world of radio and broadcasting.
