L V Prasad College of Media Studies participated in an educational industrial visit to EVP Film City, Kalaingar TV, Set Floor 7. The visit, held on a bright Saturday morning at 8:30 AM, was aimed at providing students with real-world exposure to television production and broadcasting operations.
The visiting team included eleven students from the PG Department of Editing and four students from the UG Department of Visual Media. They were accompanied by Mr. Nagesh, Senior Editing Faculty, and Mr. Ferozkhan, Heads the Department of Visual Media.
The visit was coordinated by Mr. Raju from the Sales Department of Kalaingar TV, who welcomed the team and introduced them to key personnel including the Program Coordinator, Director, and Director of Photography. The students were first taken to the studio floor, where the Director of Photography explained the production process—covering areas such as scripting, lighting, camera setup, and multi camera shooting techniques.
Students were then guided to the Program Control Room (PCR), where they witnessed the use of professional broadcasting equipment including a real-time online switcher, DMX remote light controller, Pulse Generator, Time Base Color Controller (TBC), Vector Monitor, Vision Mixer, and Audio Console. The technical team provided detailed demonstrations and answered students’ questions, even during an ongoing live shoot.
The visit offered a valuable behind-the-scenes look into the operations of a professional television studio and helped bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. Students expressed enthusiasm about the experience, calling it insightful and motivating for their future careers in the media industry.
