L V Prasad College Students Industrial Visit to NewsTamil 24×7 for Industry Exposure

As part of their industrial exposure initiative, students from L V Prasad College of Media Studies visited the headquarters of NewsTamil 24×7, a prominent Tamil news channel, for a firsthand experience of television news production and broadcasting.

The visit, held on Saturday, saw the participation of six postgraduate students from the Editing and Post Production department and five undergraduate students from the Visual Media department. They were accompanied by faculty members Mr. Palanivel Kalimuthu (Head, PG Department of Editing), Mr. Nagesh (Senior Editing Supervisor), and Mr. Ferozkhan (Heads the Department of Visual Media).

The team arrived at the NewsTamil office at 12:00 PM and was warmly welcomed by Mr. Samraat, Technical Head of the Program Control Room (PCR). He guided the students through various departments, offering detailed insights into the channel’s workflow.

The students explored key areas including news editing, video post-production, and the use of augmented reality in news presentation. They observed live editing processes, color correction techniques, and the integration of visual effects. The visit to the Media Control Room (MCR) and Program Control Room (PCR) provided an understanding of how news feeds are monitored and transmitted smoothly.

A highlight of the visit was witnessing a live news broadcast, where students interacted with anchors, camera operators, and the production team. The Green Matte Studio session further demonstrated the use of chroma keying and virtual backgrounds in modern broadcasting.

The visit concluded at 2:30 PM, leaving students enriched with practical knowledge and deeper insight into real-time news production. The faculty and students expressed their gratitude to the NewsTamil 24×7 team for their support and hospitality.
