The celebrated Tamil drama M. Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi (2004), starring Ravi Mohan, Asin, Nadhiya, and Prakash Raj, made a grand return to theatres this March—reinvigorated through advanced digital restoration at Prasad Corporation.

This re-release marked not just a nostalgic revival but a technical upgrade. The film underwent 4K film scanning, followed by 4K restoration, color grading, and mastering, reviving its original charm while significantly enhancing its visual fidelity.

Technical Process Highlights:

🛠️ Frame-by-Frame Restoration: Our skilled restoration artists digitally removed dust, scratches, flicker, and instability—painstakingly restoring the film’s visual integrity while retaining its cinematic essence.

🎨 Color Grading & Enhancement: Using advanced DI tools, the film was color graded to achieve a clean, consistent, and vibrant look, while respecting the director’s original visual tone.

📦 Mastering for Multi-Platform Monetization: Delivered in 4K DCP and high-bitrate ProRes masters, the restored film is now ready for re-release, OTT streaming, and home entertainment distribution.

The 4K re-release of M. Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi opened to packed theatres on March 14, delighting both longtime fans and a new generation of viewers.
