On March 12th, 2024, the 70mm Prasad Theatre in Chennai buzzed with the energy of aspiring filmmakers. L V Prasad College of Media Studies hosted a unique “Filmmaking with Nikon Camera Demo Session,” exclusively for undergraduate BFA Filmmaking and BSc Visual Media students. This one-day workshop provided hands-on experience with the latest Nikon Zfc and Z30 mirrorless cameras, empowering students to explore the future of filmmaking technology.

Students gained a solid foundation in the technology, delving into the intricacies of sensors, color depth, and lens selection. This fundamental knowledge allowed them to approach the cameras with confidence and understanding.
Session 2 shifted gears, transforming the theoretical into the practical. An engaging live camera demonstration unfolded, showcasing various indoor lighting setups. Students witnessed firsthand how these setups could be used to capture stunning visuals, fostering a deeper understanding of the relationship between camera technology and lighting techniques.
The workshop proved to be a valuable learning experience for the participants. They learned how to utilize sensor capabilities, color depth, and lens choices to their advantage. Furthermore, by experimenting with different indoor lighting setups during the live demonstration, they honed their practical filmmaking skills.
This innovative workshop with Nikon served as a testament to that commitment, equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the ever-evolving world of filmmaking.
