Cinema Symposium Engages Students with “Amaran (2024)” Director Rajkumar Periasamy

Chennai, December 8, 2024 – The 70mm Deluxe Theatre at L V Prasad College of Media Studies was abuzz with excitement as students gathered for the Cinema Symposium, featuring a special screening and discussion with acclaimed Indian film director and television producer, Mr. Rajkumar Periasamy.

The event provided a rare opportunity for aspiring filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts to engage in an insightful conversation with the director of Amaran (2024). Following the screening, students eagerly posed a series of questions regarding the making, production process, and storyline of the film. They were particularly intrigued by Mr. Periasamy’s choice of script and the inspiration behind it.

During the discussion, Mr. Periasamy shared his experience of meeting Indhu Rebecca Varghese, the wife of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan, whose bravery and sacrifice inspired the film. He also recounted interactions with Major Varadarajan’s colleagues, offering students a deeper understanding of the meticulous research and emotional depth involved in the filmmaking process.

Students expressed their appreciation for the director’s candid responses and behind-the-scenes insights, making the session both informative and inspiring. The Cinema Symposium successfully fostered a dialogue between emerging filmmakers and an industry stalwart, leaving attendees with a newfound appreciation for the craft of cinema and storytelling.
